I have always loved winter, everything about it. The air is so fresh, it wakes you up instantly. Light and colours seem different, distant. Your breath is forming clouds, allowing daydreams of being a dragon. The water is forming snowflakes and ice, the sunlight is creating prisms in it, so many wonders around every corner. Most life forms are existing in a fully different state (from the warm months), some are hibernating, others adapted with thick furs and reduced strolls. But in general, many sounds are dimmed, blanketed in snow. So some of the things I adore about dusk and dawn is stretching into the days as well. And sledge rides! Ice skating! Getting home after, reading or playing video games for hours, drinking hot chocolate or herbal teas with honey (...) It has been many years since last I used a sledge, because there's not enough snow anymore here (mid/southern Germany) so I gave it away even before my son and I moved here in 2017. Hej! Bin hiermit zurück aus einem langen Hiatus. Dieser Blog wird im Allgemeinen zwar eher englischsprachig bleiben, außer es geht inhaltlich hauptsächlich um lokale Dinge oder Veranstaltungen hierzulande (wie einiges in diesem Beitrag), dann werde ich die entsprechenden Artikel auf Deutsch verfassen, da das für Lesende aus anderen Ländern vermutlich weniger interessant wäre. Und natürlich mag oder kann auch nicht jede*r was mit längeren Texten auf Englisch anfangen.  Dieses Jahr... hat mir wenig Zeit für eigene Projekte gelassen. Umso bitterer, dass ich dennoch eines meiner priorisierten Ziele, eine Festanstellung in Teilzeit, dann doch nicht erreicht habe... was aber zum einen auch daran lag, dass ich mich auf weniger passende Stellen beworben hatte und noch 1-2 andere Aspekte, die ich dann hoffentlich im Frühjahr besser machen werde. Denn die Teilzeitstelle brauche ich unter anderem auch, um endlich das remote Physik-Studium an der Open University beginnen zu können, sowie mir...
