When November ends

I have always loved winter, everything about it. The air is so fresh, it wakes you up instantly. Light and colours seem different, distant. Your breath is forming clouds, allowing daydreams of being a dragon. The water is forming snowflakes and ice, the sunlight is creating prisms in it, so many wonders around every corner. Most life forms are existing in a fully different state (from the warm months), some are hibernating, others adapted with thick furs and reduced strolls. But in general, many sounds are dimmed, blanketed in snow. So some of the things I adore about dusk and dawn is stretching into the days as well. And sledge rides! Ice skating! Getting home after, reading or playing video games for hours, drinking hot chocolate or herbal teas with honey (...)

It has been many years since last I used a sledge, because there's not enough snow anymore here (mid/southern Germany) so I gave it away even before my son and I moved here in 2017. I never ice skated in open air on actual frozen lakes (only artificially created, square areas, no magic feels here), this I only heard my father tell tales about.

Three years ago there was some smaller amount of snow, I remember it clearly, because earlier that year our cats Loki and Nimue came to us, also Jian wore blue hair dye that year (I might share some photos later) and it was adorable watching them discover snowfall. ♥

This year, there was barely any, no use to ponder about getting a sledge or anything... and in November 2024 a person got elected as the next president of he USA, who will make sure his country will stay part of an escalating problem, not a solution.

We can only hope (as well as do) anything we can to prevent him wrecking the whole planet out of greed and spite.

Giving up was never an option, so we'll have to fight him and his fascist buddies.

• There will be rallies in many cities all over Germany on February 14th, 2025 (Fridays for Future)  and February 15th, 2025 (Winter CSD)
